My Story

My love for poetry began at age 11. My father’s cousin, (An English Lit. teacher) gifted me with a poetry book to read…and I fell in love with the craft. She wanted me to recognize that poetry expresses thoughts and feelings in unique ways that can be felt by the reader.  The words created from pen to paper shades words to the point where…as Plutarch states “Poetry is a painting that speaks.”
Having lost love… then found true love leaves a lasting impression upon one’s heart. So in order to give voice to the chattering of mixed emotions that my mouth has failed to speak…I write poetry. Writing to me is a powerful healer, a sublime meditation and a never-ending spiritual journey.
Today the Poets who greatly influence me, never-failing to feed my spirit are:
Ali Khaghani, Rumi, Pablo Neruda, Kahlil Gibran, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Edgar Allen Poe,  and Shakespeare. It is my hope that within these pages you will find some verse or phrase that will touch or inspire you… open your heart and mind to the beauty and soul of poetry.
